Join Mrs. Iwinski in Room C119 on the following days for review to prepare for the AP Lit & Composition Exam!

April 7th (3:15-4:30):  Practice essay on a poem excerpt and take home practice multiple choice section.

April 11th (7:00-7:45):  Small group writing conferences with Mrs. Iwinski about the April 7th practice essay.

April 22nd (3:15-4:30):  Discuss April 7th's multiple choice section.

April 23rd (7:00-7:45):  Write a practice essay on a prose excerpt and take home multiple choice section.

April 24th (7:00-7:45):  Discuss April 23rd's practice multiple choice questions.

April 29th (7:00-7:45):  Small group writing conferences with Mrs. Iwinski about the April 23rd essay.

April 30th (7:00-7:45):  Write a practice essay on an archetype in literature and take home multiple choice section.

May 2nd (3:15-4:30):  Small group writing conferences with Mrs. Iwinski about the April 30th essay.

May 5th (3:15-4:30):  Discuss April 30th practice multiple choice questions.

SHS Fine Arts Department Presents "Beauty and The Beast, Jr."

beautyandthebeast.JPGThe SHS Fine Arts Department will host two fun-filled shows of "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." April 25-26, 2014.

On Friday, April 25th, a children's matinee performance will begin at 9:00 a.m.  All area elementary schools, daycares, and homeschool programs are more than welcome!  Admission for children and parents is $2.00 with teachers and bus drivers being admitted free of charge.

On Saturday, April 26th, an afternoon production will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend!  General admission is $5.00.

Penguin Publishing & Dreamworks Pictures Sign SHS Sophomore

Penguin Publishing and Dreamworks Pictures have signed Statesboro High School Sophomore Maya Van Wagenen, 15, to a two-book and two-movie deals. Her journals of how she navigated her early teen years in a new school in Texas, using Betty Cornell's 1950's self-help book Betty Cornell’s Glamour Guide for Teens will become her first published work, Popular: Vintage Wisdom for the Modern Geek. 

Maya is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael S. Van Wagenen.  The family relocated to Bulloch County two years ago, when Dr. Van Wagenen accepted a position with Georgia Southern University's History Department. 

Maya's book will be released this spring, and is causing quite a stir in Hollywood. Here are a few of the national stories that chronicle her recent success:  Deadline Hollywood; Parade; NBC News Today; Babble.Com; Publisher's Weekly; New York Post  .  Maya is also one of the featured authors for next week's Statesboro The Write Place Festival at the Averitt Center for the Arts.
