Spring College Fair

Friday, April 3rd, Juniors will visit the 7th Annual SHS College Fair.  Over 17 Georgia Colleges will be in attendance.  This is a perfect opportunity for Juniors to begin their college search!  Seniors who have not committed to a college are invited, too!  Parents, feel free to join us.  The college fair runs from 9-11 a.m. in the JV Gym.

SHS Cheerleading Tryouts

Tryout Week:  May 4-8

Monday, May 4 - Parent Meeting, SHS Lunchroom, 5:30 p.m.

 

Tuesday and Wednesday - Practice 4-5:30

(buses will be available from WJMS & LCMS - parent pick up @ 5:30)

 

Friday - TRYOUTS 3:30 until...

(for Friday's tryouts:  all participants should wear a white, unmarked t-shirt, navy shorts, hair up in a ponytail, tennis shoes)

In order to participate in cheerleading tryouts you must complete the forms that can be found on the cheerleading website (Click on Athletics then Cheerleading) and MAKE SURE you have a current physical. These forms may be turned into Mrs. Altman, Mrs. Driggers, or Ms. Crosby after we return from Spring Break (if you would like to turn them in early) or at the May 4th meeting.   You must have these forms on file to participate in tryout practice/tryouts.  

Online registration is required and will begin April 1, 2015 and CLOSE May 1st.

SENIORS:

If you have not already done so, you need to make sure all fees and debts have been paid PRIOR to graduation.  Please check with Mrs. Altman in the Media Center and with Mrs. Beasley in the Athletic office BEFORE April 30th.

The deadline for paying your $45.00 graduation fee is April 30th.  After this date, the graduation fee will be $50.  Please see Mrs. Beasley in the Athletic Office to pay this fee.

Miss SHS Pageant

The Miss SHS Pageant "Red, White, and Blue Devils:  Girls in Pearls" will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium.  All girls in grades 9-12 are encouraged to enter!  Grades 9-10 will compete for the title of Miss SHS Princess and grades 11-12 will compete for the overall Miss SHS title.

If you are interested in entering the pageant, please complete the entry form attached, and return the completed application with a $35 entry fee to Mrs. Minick in room A509.  All entry forms are due no later than Monday, March 2, 2015.

Health Career Camp 2015

Current 9th-12 graders are invited to attend the Magnolia Coastlands AHEC Health Career Camp on June 15-18, 2015 at Georgia Southern University.  For $25, campers will be provided meals and snacks, and participate in a variety of activities including:

  • Hear practicing health professionals discuss the challenges of providing health care today.
  • talk with health professions students about their learning experiences.
  • tour healthcare facilities and colleges.
  • gain expert advice on schools which offer health professions programs.

Administration of SLO Assessments

As part of the requirement for Georgia's new teacher evaluation system, teachers in subject areas not required to administer standardized tests will give a Student Learning Objective (SLO) assessment.  Bulloch County teachers developed SLO assessments that are directly aligned to the standards in the course.  The tests will be administered to students in Grades K-12 in various courses.  

Bulloch County Students in grades K-12 are scheduled to take the SLO at  different times of the year.  The testing schedule is as follows:

August 11-22, 2014:  Pre-Assessment (Year Long and First Semester) 
November 17-21/December 1-5, 2014:  Post Assessment (First Semester)
January 12-23, 2015:  Pre-Assessment (Second Semester)
May 4-15:  Post Assessment (Year Long and Second Semester)

Bulloch County Schools encourages all parents with children, who attend one of the district’s 15 public schools, to complete an online survey from the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Parent Survey, regarding the climate and safety of their child’s school(s). Access the survey from any desktop or mobile device with Internet access.
