PROM 2018!

APRIL 14, 2018


PROM CONTRACT:   ALL Prom attendees MUST have a prom contract signed and on file in the media center BEFORE purchasing tickets.  SHS Students must have page one completed, and all guests (not an SHS Student) must complete both pages.  Approvals must be completed and turned in on or before April 6th, 2018.  Tickets may be purchased until April 13th, but you must be approved FIRST!  REMEMBER THE DOCUMENT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO PURCHASING TICKETS AND ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTERING PROM. For any questions please see Mr. Mendoza, Mrs. Thompson(Crosby), or Mrs. Carroll.

January - $50
February - $60
March and April - $70

SENIOR VIDEO:  Seniors, please make sure that you and your date have your portrait taken by Mrs. R. Rogers for Senior video.  She will be taking pictures from 8:30-10:00 p.m.

Statesboro High School's Media Center partnered with the Career, Technical and Agriculture Education (CTAE) department and hosted a Lunch and Learn.  Ogeechee Technical College's Industrial Maintenance Program presented information regarding their summer "Fast Track" program specifically designed for high school students.  The program provides instruction in industrial maintenance that equips students for immediate placement in local industries upon program completion.  Students interested in learning more can contact their counselor at Statesboro High School or admission counselors at OTC.

SHS will offer a weekend SAT review course. This course will cover the Reading, Math, and Writing and Language sections of the SAT. The sessions will be offered on Saturday, Feb 24 and Sunday, Feb 25th from 2-5 pm at SHS. Fee is $70.

TO TRYOUT FOR ANY SPORT, ALL PAPERWORK (INCLUDING PHYSICALS) MUST BE ON FILE IN MRS. BEASLEY'S OFFICE

Tennis  
Begins Wednesday, January 10th at 4:00 p.m at Mill Creek.  Students needing transportation to Mill Creek after school may ride bus 074.

Soccer 
January 16-18 beginning at 3:30 at Womack Field.  

Boy’s soccer team will be having it’s new player/parent interest meeting for any new players and parents that would like to know more about the soccer team on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 6:00pm at the SHS Fieldhouse.

Girls:  Returning players can opt to run their 1.5 mile on Monday, Jan 15th at 3 pm.  Contact Coach Thomas

Cheerleading Tryouts will be held March 26-30

All students interested in trying out need to complete the google form and have all paperwork on file prior to March 26th.   See Coach Driggers, Coach Parker, or Coach Thompson if you have any questions

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Science is will be accepting applicants for VetCAMP2018 beginning December 1st.  This program is offered to rising high school juniors and seniors and rising college freshmen to evaluate their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, provide mentorship and help them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path. It’s a great experience and the students have a lot of fun while also learning about the profession.

 

VetCAMP2018 will be held June 17-23, 2018.  The cost of attending the program is $900 and covers lodging, meals, instruction and social activities. Financial assistance is available to students with demonstrated need. For more information regarding scholarship opportunities, please contact vetcamp@uga.edu once the application period has opened. You may also reach out to that email address with any general questions that they have regarding the program.
